I am not sure why bran muffins were cancelled. All of the expensive coffee shops near me have cookies, croissants and breads, but have chosen to support only blueberry muffins. The only way for me to secure a bran muffin in North Tribeca is from the coffee cart guy that sits outside Citibank headquarters during the week. Yesterday my friend surprised me with one, and knowing that she had to go to the ATM to pay cold hard cash for that contraband warmed my heart.
The second most amazing thing that happened to me yesterday is that High Sport sent me a replacement pair of kick pants!!! If you read my first substack you will remember that they had to tragically cut off my pants in the trauma unit at Bellevue. With the help of some fairy fashion godmothers, my treasured pants have been replaced. I am not sure if this makes me an injury influencer but *hair flip* it certainly feels that way.
I bought my first pair of High Sport kick pants from John Patrick’s dreamy outpost in Bridgehampton a few summers ago. Anything I have ever bought from John becomes a staple in my wardrobe and the kick pants were no different. They are made of Italian cotton and lycra and are SUPER flattering. They are the BEST travel pants, out for dinner pants, and on freezing cold days in NYC I walk my dog in them. I wear mine probably once or twice a week because they are so comfortable but don’t look like a trouser. I know they are expensive but they are easily the hardest working pant in my closet so the pay per wear is unreal.
My sister is in Milan right now so she sends me photos of the shows and I solicit her for search terms on The Real Real. Yesterday she sent me photos of the Prada show and I had a physical response. I was moaning at some of the photos. Heathered charcoal grey and navy wool coats with jeweled buttons. Swooooooon. A bright red wool dress worn over the perfectly washed pair of jeans and black loafers (it was giving old JCrew glory days). The photo that hit me the hardest was the cashmere collars with rows of emerald cut jewels on them.
I have always loved crafting and tinkering with clothes. When I was in high school I would cut up vintage t-shirts and sew and tie them in different ways and give them to friends. I remember this red graphic T-shirt that I knotted up and down the side. One of my favorite pieces was when I cut up a kimono my dad brought me home from a business trip and added two inches of the blue silk textured fabric to the bottom hem of my used Levi’s. The jeans were ankle length and I wore them with Steve Madden slinkies and I was serving. My friend Amanda named it Jenny G originals and after seeing the Prada jeweled collars I’m relaunching it. I already went on etsy and bought some sew on rhinestones.
I have exactly one month to start all of the projects and businesses I will never launch. I recently found this guy on Instagram who does little videos about ADHD and I have never felt more seen in my entire life.

The first injury influencer!
That same feeling when you learn a celeb you love is a nice person IRL; very cool of High Sport and may get me to finally pull the trigger on the kick pant. QQ - can you wash them or are they dry clean only? Do they stretch out quickly?
